Isack Hadjar speaks out as Red Bull F1 return confirmed

Isack Hadjar has offered his first reaction to the news that he will return to the cockpit this weekend at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

During the traditional summer break period, Hadjar suffered a wrist injury and was ruled out when the sport returned at Zandvoort.

He remained on the sidelines for the following events in Monza and Madrid, with Liam Lawson stepping from the sister Racing Bulls squad to replace him.

However, the Frenchman will make his return in Baku, having satisfied the team that he has recovered from the injury.

"I'm just so excited to get back into my car,” Hadjar said.

“The last month has been tricky for me; it's the first time in my life that I've not been racing and that's a weird feeling to get used to. 

“As soon as I suffered the injury, I've been fully focused on my recovery so I can get back as quickly as possible. 

“I want to thank Laurent and the team for their patience throughout this process; it was important not to rush the decision.”

Hadjar eager for F1 return

Prior to the ailment, Hadjar had been enjoying a strong campaign in his first season at the Milton Keynes-based squad.

The 21-year-old was a consistent finisher inside the top six and even bagged a podium in Monaco.

Hadjar outlined his objective is to pick up where he left off when he jumps back into the car this weekend.

“Now I feel ready to get back to what I do best - driving,” he said.

“Baku is a unique circuit and one you need to be locked in for from the very start of the weekend.

“Although it's been quite a break since I was last in the car, our simulator session was positive and I'm looking forward to hitting the ground running."
