How early does qualifying start for the Australian GP?

Formula 1 is back racing in Australia for the first since 2019. Here's all you need to know about the schedule for the remainder of the event.

The 2022 F1 season continues as the sport returns Down Under for the Australian Grand Prix.

Charles Leclerc leads the way in the World Championship standings, and set the pace once again in Friday's final practice session in Melbourne, edging out Red Bull's Max Verstappen and Ferrari teammate Carlos Sainz.

A third and final one-hour practice session is scheduled to start at 13:00 local time (04:00 BST) on Saturday, offering teams a final chance to find performance before the grid order is decided later that day.

Saturday's qualifying hour will kick off at 16:00 local time (07:00 BST), while Sunday's race takes place an hour earlier at 15:00 local time (06:00 BST) and will run for 58 laps.
