Lewis Hamilton suffered a shock Q1 exit at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix and is now scheduled to start the race in 16th place. It marks the second time in three races that the seven-time world champion has failed to progress beyond the first stage of qualifying. Hamilton has struggled for performance this weekend, with his effort in sprint qualifying only seeing him end up in 11th. With wet conditions pelting the circuit for the delayed grand prix qualifying session, the Mercedes driver could only slide his way to 16th. A dejected Hamilton voiced confusion over the team radio after his elimination. Hamilton's failure to progress was good news for title contender Lando Norris, who just scraped through to Q2 in 15th place.
