Max Verstappen has been firmly backed to land pole position for the United States Grand Prix.
Ferrari's Charles Leclerc was quickest at the end of both hour-long sessions at the Circuit of the Americas on Friday, and for a brief moment appeared set for the clean sweep when he set the fastest lap in FP3.
Leclerc, though, was one of the many who breached track limits, leading to his lap being deleted, handing top-of-the-timesheet honours to team-mate Lewis Hamilton. It was the first time the seven-time F1 champion had topped FP3 for over two years.
Verstappen sandwiched the Ferrari duo and is certainly in the mix to claim the 51st pole of his Formula 1 career.
RacingNews365 fans certainly believe Red Bull driver Verstappen will make it count when it matters in qualifying.
Verstappen scored almost 50 per cent of the votes in our latest poll when we asked who would clinch the top spot on the grid for the USGP.
The 29-year-old, who netted 46.96 per cent, scored more than double the votes over nearest rival Leclerc, who collected 19.66 per cent.
Championship leader Kimi Antonelli was next best with 14.78 per cent, followed by Hamilton with 10.96 per cent.
