Isack Hadjar has been handed a formal warning by the United States Grand Prix stewards following an incident in final practice with Williams' Alex Albon.
Red Bull driver Hadjar faced a charge of erratic driving following a clash that unfolded late in FP3 at the Circuit of the Americas when he locked up on the approach to Turn 1 while on a fast lap, believing Albon was holding him up on the racing line.
The Red Bull driver ran wide, then pulled alongside Albon's car and steered towards it, appearing to hang on the outside of the corner in an attempt to stop the Williams from rejoining the track.
Following a meeting with the stewards, a statement read: "On the approach to Turn 1, car 23 [Albon] moved to the outside of the corner on the approach of car 6 [Hadjar], to avoid any impeding of that car.
"The driver of car 6 locked [his] brakes and had to abort the lap. He was obviously upset with this and took what could be described as 'retaliatory action' by swerving towards car 23.
"The stewards regard this as not only erratic but also an action that should be discouraged and hence impose the penalty of a warning to the driver.
"Had the action been dangerous or resulted in a collision, a more severe penalty would have been imposed."
