Hamilton makes surprise BTCC return

Nicolas Hamilton, the brother of seven-time F1 champion Lewis, is returning to motorsport with a seat in the British Touring Car Championship. 

Nicolas is the paternal half-brother of the Ferrari driver, and was diagnosed with cerebral palsy as a child, but has raced ad hoc through his career, with spells in the Renault Clio Cup and BTCC, before a full-time switch to the series in 2019. 

However, in mid-2023, he withdrew mid-season after his team collapsed, but is making a return to the series with Un-Limited Motorsport in a Cupra Leon machine as part of a three-car entry. 

From his 132 starts in the BTCC in total, Hamilton's best result is a sixth place at Donnington Park in 2023. 

The 2025 BTCC season kicks off at Donnington on April 26-27 with 30 races over 10 weekends, with events also scheduled for the Brands Hatch national and grand prix circuits as well as the national circuit at Silverstone. 

"There is a place in motorsport for disabled people to feel valued and accepted in multiple roles within the sport, and I want to open people’s eyes to that," said Hamilton.

"I want to continue to prove that motorsport is for everyone and that racing can be a platform for opportunity and inclusivity. 

"Un-Limited Motorsport and my partners believe in what I stand for, my talent, and my purpose. If I can be accepted, then so can others with a disability."
