Lewis Hamilton makes new Ferrari demand as F1 woes continue - report

Lewis Hamilton has not enjoyed the most successful period with Ferrari since joining the team at the start of the year.

Lewis Hamilton has sent a report to the senior management at Ferrari as the squad continues to struggle for performance, according to Italian media.

Hamilton joined Ferrari this year following a successful stint at Mercedes as he commenced a new career chapter and went in search of a record-breaking eighth F1 title.

However, the Italian squad has slipped back in the pecking order and is winless in the current season after 18 rounds.

It marks a major step back for Ferrari, who last year narrowly missed out on winning the constructors' championship to McLaren.

It is easy to understand that, as a result, there has been a sense of frustration from the drivers, especially from Charles Leclerc, who has been part of the team since 2019.

According to Corriere della Sera, behind the scenes, Hamilton is demanding changes.

This includes adjustments to how the team carries out certain methods and procedures to improve on-track execution.

While Hamilton's push for improvement is nothing new, he is said to have repeated that demand recently as he still awaits his first trip to the podium with the team.

Elsewhere in the report, there appears to be scrutiny around head of track engineering Matteo Togninalli.

After the double disqualification in China, his position was already under pressure, after which Togninalli nevertheless regained Ferrari's confidence. Now strained relations, mediocre results and lack of development have led to new discussions.

Ferrari also has major problems with the car's tuning - the disqualification in China led to measures in Belgium and Hungary, among others, but the car is said to be underperforming as a result.

Corriere della Sera reports that as a result, Ferrari may be proceeding very conservatively to counter the FIA's intensive checks.
