Formula E is set to drop to 10 teams for its 12th season, with the McLaren outfit having failed to find a new investor, RacingNews365 understands.
It was announced at the end of April that McLaren would quit the all-electric series at the end of the current campaign, leaving team principal Ian James with the task of finding a new investor.
Unfortunately, it appears that search has been unsuccessful, resulting in the squad to be closed down following the current season which concludes at the end of July in London.
As a result, the team's entry will be returned to Formula E Operations, meaning that only 10 teams are currently set to feature on the Season 12 grid.
It represents a blow for FE, which will contest its 13th and 14th rounds of the season in Berlin this weekend.
As for its drivers, The Race has reported that McLaren prodigy Taylor Barnard has signed a multi-year deal with Penske.
For Sam Bird, paddock rumours have suggested he could remain with McLaren to support its brand-new Hypercar programme, bringing an end to his 11-year stint in FE.
