The FIA will hear McLaren and Red Bull's appeals over Pierre Gasly's Monaco Grand Prix penalties being overturned next week.
The hearing will be held at 09:00 local time on Tuesday, August 25th, in Paris, with McLaren and Red Bull both seeking to reinstate the five-second time penalty Alpine had wiped after a successful right of review into the race result in Monte Carlo.
There, Gasly was one of a number of drivers awarded time penalties for speeding in the pit-lane, with Lewis Hamilton, George Russell, Franco Colapinto, and McLaren's Piastri all handed five-second penalties for eclipsing the 60kph limit in force, in addition to Alpine's Gasly.
However, during Alpine's right of review into the two penalties awarded to Gasly, it was found that the pit-lane length had been measured incorrectly by the timekeeper, with the average pit-lane speed calculated by a speed, distance, time equation as opposed to a single point at pit-entry or pit-exit.
This finding was deemed to meet the "relevant and new" threshold required by right of review cases, with the information also unavailable to the stewards at the time of thier initial decision on Sunday in Monte Carlo.
The result of one of Gasly's two penalties being wiped, he had served one five-second delay at a pit-stop, was that he climbed back to third in the final results, having fallen to seventh once the outstanding five seconds had been added to his racetime.
This meant Isack Hadjar of Red Bull was demoted to fourth, with McLaren's Piastri down to fifth, as Liam Lawson of Racing Bulls also shuffled down one spot to sixth with Gasly moving up.
In the aftermath of the decision, announced at the Barcelona GP, Mercedes boss Toto Wolff hinted that the team was exploring avenues after Russell's penalty, which he incorrectly served by not waiting five seconds before being serviced in the pits.
This was then automatically translated into a drive-through penalty, which he served after the late race red flag, and which dropped him to 12th in the final results.
Mercedes ultimately elected not to proceed with any action, but McLaren and Red Bull have chosen to do so.
They are specifically appealing decisions #1 and #2 in Document 99 of the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix, namely those verdicts to rescind Gasly's penalty and promote him back up to third place.
The lodging of the appeal was on June 16th, 2026, with the hearing set to take place on the Tuesday following the Dutch Grand Prix.
It will not be open to the public or media.
