Ferrari has made a major change ahead of sprint qualifying for the Chinese Grand Prix.
The Scuderia first unveiled its novel 'Macarena' rear wing in pre-season testing in Bahrain in February, and it was again rolled out in first practice at the Shanghai International Circuit.
The unique design has set tongues in the paddock wagging due to how it operates - reversing or flipping - as part of the active aerodynamics introduced for this season.
It is increasingly being referred to as the 'Macarena' wing after the famous dance from the 1993 pop hit with the same name by Los Del Rio.
In the build-up to the Chinese Grand Prix weekend, Lewis Hamilton had hailed the efforts of the team at Maranello to have the rear wing ready for this event as it was initially slated for a mid-season launch.
It event transpired that due to the late availability of the part, it was transported to Shanghai in the luggage of team personnel.
But following FP1, with Charles Leclerc and Hamilton only fifth and sixth quickest, Ferrari has opted to revert to the Melbourne-spec rear wing for the remainder of the weekend.
It is understood that the team has opted to ditch the wing on reliability grounds.
