Fernando Alonso has become the third retiree in the Mexico City Grand Prix, following an issue with his Aston Martin.

The Spaniard had struggled for pace throughout the weekend at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, and sustained slight front-wing damage in the opening stages.

As a result, the two-time champion fell towards the back of the field, before making his way to the Aston Martin garage to retire just after half-race distance.

It represents the third consecutive Mexican GP Alonso has retired in, making the venue a particularly unlucky one for the veteran.

As mentioned, he became the third driver to retire, joining Liam Lawson and Nico Hulkenberg.
