F1 fans have called on the sport's regulators to avoid adding a further gimmick to grands prix by mandating that there should be two stops for every driver.
At a recent meeting of the F1 Commission, that very idea was discussed on the basis that, given the overwhelming majority of races have become one-stop have resulted in them becoming too predictable.
Under the current rules, every race declared dry requires a driver to make at least one pit stop and change to a different compound.
The idea behind a two-stopper is that they will at least shake up strategy and seemingly provide greater variability.
But in the latest RacingNews365 poll, just over 55% of fans indicated that implementing two-stop plans would not improve the show. In contrast, 38% felt a mandatory two stops would shake things up. The remainder were unsure.
A two-stop strategy was trialled in Monaco earlier this year, but to little success. In the upcoming Qatar GP, drivers will have to make at least two stops under plans implemented by F1, the FIA, and Pirelli.
That is on the basis of safety due to exceedingly high wear at the Lusail International Circuit.
Over the course of the entire weekend, which includes a sprint, no tyre of any compound can be run for more than 25 laps.
