The Formula 1 stewards in Bahrain have issued Valtteri Bottas a reprimand following a rule breach in Bahrain.
Bottas was deemed guilty of breaching Article 37.2 of the sporting regulations during FP2 when he crossed the pit lane exit while the red light was on display.
The rules outline that a car can “only leave the pit lane when the green light is on”.
Any driver that receives five reprimands during a single season will be issued a 10-place grid penalty for the next applicable round.
“The Stewards heard from the driver of Car 7 7 (Valtteri Bottas), team representative and reviewed video evidence and determined that Car 77 crossed the Pit Exit Line while the red light was on,” read a statement from the stewards.
“The driver stopped shortly after crossing the line and
admitted his error at the hearing. We accordingly imposed a reprimand with no
penalty points.”
Bottas ended FP2 in Bahrain in 17th place.
