Alex Albon will use his own allocation of engine components when commandeering Logan Sargeant's chassis at the Australian Grand Prix.
The Thai-Briton has taken over his teammate's car after damaging his own in a heavy first-practice crash, with Williams not having a spare chassis present at Albert Park.
It means American Sargeant has been forced to make way as the Grove-based outfit gives itself what it believes is the best chance of securing points in Melbourne.
Albon damaged his power unit and gearbox in the crash having hit the wall on the right and left-hand side of Turns seven and eight.
Yet despite taking over Sargeant's car for the rest of the weekend, a Williams spokesperson confirmed ahead of Saturday's on-track activities that all limited-allocation components will come out of Albon's own pool.
This means that any further issues will not impact Sargeant for the rest of the season, whilst Albon looks likely to take a penalty later in the campaign.
