The Brad Pitt-starring F1 movie secured the BAFTA for Best Sound at the 2026 ceremony in London on Sunday, continuing a strong awards season run for the Joseph Kosinski-directed blockbuster.
The award was presented to sound team members Gareth John, Al Nelson, Gwendolyn Yates Whittle, Gary A. Rizzo, and Juan Peralta.
'F1' was released last summer, following the story of a retired driver returning to the grid to partner with a rookie, played by Damson Idris.
Production of the movie saw it embed itself in the race paddock for many grand prix weekends as it carried out filming.
It has already won various awards, including Best Editing at the Critics' Choice Movie Awards and Best Country Solo Performance with Chris Stapleton at the Grammy Awards.
Although it prevailed in the Best Sound category at the BAFTAs, it was also nominated for Best Editing and Best Special Visual Effects.
'F1' has also been nominated for various honours at 2026 Academy Awards, which takes place in just under three weeks' time.
There, it is hoping to walk away with Best Picture, Best Sound, Best Film Editing and Best Visual Effects.
