The Canadian Grand Prix has confirmed it has agreed terms to change the date of its race from 2026 onward.
The move has been signed in a further bid to make the F1 calendar more sustainable going forward by limiting the travel constraints.
Canada's race has traditionally been held in June - in fact, it has taken place during that month since 1982.
However for the 2026 campaign, the date will change to May with organisers pledging it will solidify itself a slot in the third or fourth week of the month going forward.
Canada is the latest location to go through a schedule change - Japan was pushed forward this year to fall with the Australia and China rounds while Azerbaijan was moved back to accommodate the European schedule.
Monaco will also move to June from 2026 as F1 continues to iron out the creases in its schedule.
“I am incredibly grateful to the promoter and all of the government stakeholder partners involved in the Canadian Grand Prix, from the local, to the provincial and national government,” said F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali.
“We applaud the tremendous effort from all involved to accelerate the temporary build of the event, to be ready to host the Formula 1 community earlier than in the past.
“The change will make the future flow of our calendar not only more sustainable, but logistically more sensible for our teams and personnel.
“Our Net Zero by 2030 commitment continues to be a priority for us as a sport and it is thanks to changes like this that we are on track to hitting our goal.”
