Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc set the pace during Friday's first practice session ahead of the Miami Grand Prix.
The drivers took to the track at the Miami International Autodrome for the first time on a hot day in Florida.
Leclerc used the Soft rubber to clock a time of 1:21.098, but the Mercedes of George Russell (also on Softs) was just 0.071 seconds behind.
Russell placed second, followed by the two Red Bull cars of Max Verstappen (+0.179s) and Sergio Perez (+0.203s).
Alex Albon impressed the crowds in Miami Gardens with the stand-out lap of the session, placing seventh with a lap almost four seconds faster than his teammate, Nicholas Latifi.
