Former Red Bull Formula 1 driver Daniil Kvyat remains very interested in securing a seat on the Formula E grid, particularly due to the arrival of Gen4.
The 31-year-old has yet to race Formula E machinery but has been a regular presence in the paddock for several years, taking part in various rookie tests and practice sessions.
Kvyat drove in the 2023 Berlin rookie test for NIO 333 Racing and then for DS Penske in 2025, before driving for the latter again last month in the Madrid test.
Since first experiencing Formula E machinery, the ex-F1 driver has been keen to secure a seat on the grid, but it has never materialised.
For 2026, Kvyat is competing in Super GT for JLOC in a Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2, which is his top priority this year.
As for a move back to single-seater racing in Formula E, a spot on the grid for the arrival of Gen4 is far from likely, but it remains something he is very interested in.
Speaking to RacingNews365 in an exclusive interview, Kvyat said: "Well, generally, my plans for next year are quite open at the moment.
"This year, I’m racing in Japan [in Super GT], and I’m still a Lamborghini factory driver—that’s my main job.
"I have other things going on, but yes, I’ve always said that Formula E is something I’m open to with the right opportunity and the right mindset.
"It’s something interesting, especially now with Gen4—a more downforce-driven car—which would make even more sense."
Kvyat has formed a strong relationship with Stellantis over the past couple of years; however, according to him, there are currently no plans for him to test its Gen4 machinery.
Regarding a race seat, Kvyat revealed that he has spoken to several individuals in the paddock and is eager to see what opportunities may arise in the future.
Asked if talks have taken place with any team, he replied: "I know a lot of people around this paddock, and obviously talks are one thing—people talk, and I talk with people, and that’s normal.
"We’ll see what opportunities may arise in the future."
