Mitch Evans has warned Jaguar against taking an "aggressive" approach into the final race of the Formula E season, which will decide all three championships.

The New Zealander is firmly in the fight for the crown after claiming a podium in the penultimate round of the season in London on Saturday.

Evans was frustrated with the result and labelled his rostrum as "bittersweet", with championship rival Pascal Wehrlein having won the race.

The Jaguar driver started from pole position and led the first half of the race in London's ExCeL Centre, whilst Wehrlein sat behind in the tow.

It saw Wehrlein have a considerable energy advantage late on, enough for him to overtake Evans into the first corner and cruise to a comfortable win.

Wehrlein winning is significant, as it means he enters today's Formula E season finale with a three-point lead over Evans in the standings.

Evans was frustrated with Jaguar's strategy and the way the team read the race, as its handed Wehrlein the edge in the title fight.

"Yeah, it does feel bittersweet," Evans told RacingNews365. "Finishing second in my situation is annoying, but to lose it to him is more frustrating.

"I feel like with the pace, maybe we just read the race a little bit wrong and gave him that [win]. He was basically in the tow the whole race.

"He got a big advantage on me and I couldn't really fight that."

Jaguar 'can't be soft'

Jaguar has the chance of completing a Formula E hat-trick on Sunday, in winning the drivers', teams' and manufacturers' titles.

It is very much a Jaguar versus Porsche showdown in the British capital, which Evans recognises the significance of.

However, he has warned the Coventry-based outfit against fighting too hard.

"It's huge, a lot will happen," added Evans. "The focus will be on qualifying and seeing where we stack up, then the race will be what it will be but we can't be soft.

"We can't be too aggressive, but it kind of depends who we're racing. But we've got a healthy lead in the teams', so I think we should be pretty safe. Unless Porsche pull-off some sort of freak miracle.

"I'm feeling good that we can get that done. But obviously the drivers, we want to win both championships, whether it's me or Nick and the teams'."
