Lewis Hamilton painted a dejected figure after qualifying in ninth for the Bahrain Grand Prix, with him not knowing how to improve.
The seven-time world champion was comfortably slower than team-mate Charles Leclerc, who secured third on the grid at the Bahrain International Circuit.
Despite Ferrari having introduced significant upgrades for the fourth round of the season, Hamilton remained in a spot of bother in the SF-25.
When facing the media after qualifying, the 40-year-old mumbled through several questions, whilst Leclerc was optimistic.
Hamilton insisted he is the problem at Ferrari currently, rather than the car.
"I'm not doing a good enough job on my side, just got to keep improving," Hamilton told select media including RacingNews365.
Whilst the 105-time race winner is starting towards the foot of the top 10, he is hopeful that ground can be made during the race.
"Hopefully top five," said Hamilton. "I'll try and see if I can get it to top five, we'll see."
The start of Hamilton's career has been one of disappointment, with the sole exception being his surprise China sprint victory.
He is unsure what is going wrong, and acknowledged to the media that he has minimal to say about his current situation.
"I really don't know," said a dejected Hamilton. "I don't have a lot of answers for you guys. Just wasn't good today."
