Sebastien Loeb and the Dakar Rally has not been a very happy combination so far.
The Frenchman has managed to win many stages in the past, but has thus far been unable to win the endurance race outright.
In this edition, he also seemed to throw away his title chances soon after problems in the first part of the marathon stage. But he still managed to limit the damage to 15 minutes by the end.
However, in the third stage, there has been further bad news for the 50-year-old. He crashed after only 12 kilometres, with the rear end looking especially bad.
The crew was not harmed and he has been able to continue the race together with co-pilot Fabian Lurquin, despite for the fact that they came to a halt again after 63 kilometres.
In the meantime, the nine-time WRC drivers' champion did get back on track and passed the waypoint at 69 kilometers, but the gap to provisional fastest man Mattias Ekstrom is now almost 50 minutes.
