Charles Leclerc has revealed the Ferrari F1 team has upgrades on the way to fix some of the car's weaknesses.

Ferrari has endured a difficult first half to the current F1 campaign and has not yet taken to the top step of the podium.

The team has noted on several occasions that the car has a limitation in a certain area but has remained tight-lipped over the nature of the setback.

It nevertheless sits second in the constructors' standings, behind runaway leaders McLaren.

Leclerc endured a difficult British Grand Prix, with his 14th place marking the first time he has taken the chequered flag outside the points since last year's race at Silverstone.

When asked by RacingNews365 what he would like to see from the car in the second half of the year, Leclerc replied: “Performance.

“Eventually, it’s the performance that we need. We've got some upgrades coming which will cure some particular weaknesses of the car, which I think will help us in some phases of the corner.

“I won't go too much into detail, but again, I think there are some weaknesses. We've identified them, and we'll try and fix them as soon as possible.”

Leclerc opted to pit at the end of the formation lap in Silverstone to gamble on a set of dry tyres - a decision that did not pay off.

However, the Monegasque driver denied that it was the sole cause of his difficult race.

“For sure, this did not help,” he said. “However, we were kind of nowhere the whole race.

“When I say nowhere, it's like, really nowhere. I was one second off and on top of that, I was doing lots of mistakes.

“I was really struggling to keep the car on track, so it was an incredibly difficult day.

“I need to analyse what was going on. What did I do in terms of tools, in terms of setup, in terms of driving that made everything worse?

“It was extremely difficult.”
