Carlos Sainz has been handed a swift five-second time penalty at the Mexico City Grand Prix for speeding in the pit lane.
The Williams driver came in on lap 19 of the 71-lap race at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, but exceeded the allowed limit of 80 k/mh.
It is the second penalty the Spaniard has needed to serve this weekend, following his five-place grid penalty that was carried over from last weekend's United States Grand Prix. That dropped him from seventh to P12 on the grid.
However, it appears the four-time grand prix winner had issues with the pit limiter in his FW47. He radioed in to the team, saying: "The car is jumping in the pit lane! I don't know why, massive jumping in the pit lane...
"Like something is broken! Check the vibrations from the pit lane, on the pit limiter."
Onboard footage backed up his claim, in what has been a frenetic start to the race, with a myriad of incidents looked at by the stewards.
The situation later worsened for Sainz, who received a drive-through penalty for speeding in the pit lane.
