Red Bull officially confirm Christian Horner F1 departure

Red Bull Racing has officially confirmed the departure of Christian Horner from the team after 20 years in charge.

Horner was sacked on July 9th as team principal and CEO, but was only removed from operational duties, meaning his last race trackside with the team was the British Grand Prix on July 6th. 

Since then, Horner has officially remained an employee of Red Bull, but his departure from the team he joined in 2005 has now been made official. 

Under Horner, Red Bull won eight drivers' titles with Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen, six constructors' titles, 124 grands prix, achieved 287 podiums and 107 pole positions. 

He is one of the most successful team principals in the history of Formula 1. 

Meanwhile, Dutch media have reported that his severance package is set to total nearly €60 million, although this has not been confirmed.
