George Russell reacts to latest F1 setback: 'Add it to the list'

George Russell has stated his poor start at the Hungarian Grand Prix can be added to the list of shortcomings he's endured this year.

Russell started the Budapest race from sixth on the grid but was quickly demoted to the rear of the field after his engine went into anti-stall.

The Briton was forced into a recovery drive and made his way into seventh by the chequered flag, but he still lost points in the standings to team-mate Kimi Antonelli, who finished third.

Russell has endured various setbacks at recent events, having been eliminated on the opening lap at Spa-Francorchamps just one week ago.

Explaining what happened at the start, Russell told Sky F1: “I was on the throttle waiting, then all of a sudden the engine was going all over the place, it was revving really high and really low.

“Add it to the list of things that have happened in the first half of this year and pray things calm down in the second half.”

Russell now sits 59 points down on Antonelli as the season enters the summer break.

But despite the latest blow to his title charge, Russell is attempting to stay upbeat about his prospects.

“I’m staying positive,” he said. “I’ve gone through being so disappointed with everything that’s happened in the first half of the year.

“At one point you need to pick yourself up and accept there are a lot of things out of your control that may work against you.

“There are things in my control I need to do better and I will continue to work on that but of course I’m not happy with how things have gone, but I’m going to stay positive and keep on pushing.”
