Aston Martin is not going to offer Christian Horner a position within the team, ending speculation that the axed Red Bull boss could take on a role at the Silverstone-based squad.
Red Bull parted ways with Horner earlier this season, closing the curtain on a 20-year stint as its team principal.
Horner was linked to several F1 projects following his axe, including Aston Martin, when it emerged that the Briton had engaged in a “chat” with team owner Lawrence Stroll.
Ahead of the 2026 campaign, Aston Martin announced a major leadership change with team principal Andy Cowell moving to a new role next year.
He will be replaced by Adrian Newey, an F1 technical mastermind who departed the Red Bull company earlier this year.
It generated speculation that another role could be created for Horner and reunite the two former Red Bull employees.
However, an Aston Martin source has confirmed to RacingNews365 that in an address to the factory earlier this week, Stroll stated the possibility of Horner joining as “absolutely not happening” and labelled the rumours as “not true”.
Horner is currently serving a period of gardening leave and is not free to join another F1 project until early spring 2026.
The 52-year-old played a major role in the championship-winning seasons enjoyed by Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen.
