Max Verstappen to take on 100 drivers at the same time in 'world's biggest' race

Max Verstappen is to take on 100 drivers at the same time in a special go-kart race, dubbed 'Max vs 100'. 

The four-time F1 world champion is to take on 100 go-karters at a special event at Silverstone on September 16th, in the days after the Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid, and will be tasked with overtaking all 100 challengers during the event, having started at the back of the field.

The event is to be broadcast globally, live on Disney+.

The circuit at Silverstone has been purpose-built for the occasion by Race Director and French racing driver David Terrien, a renowned kart designer and youth karting world champion, and marks a return to go-karting for Verstappen, who won a host of titles in 2013 before his transition into car racing in 201

"In go-karts you learn all the basics: starts, defending, overtaking. Of course, I spent a long period of my life go-karting, so it's always nice to return," Verstappen said.

"It’s about understanding the grip of the go-kart. I've done so many years in go-karting that you quite naturally get back into things. I will be looking forward to just seeing the carnage unfold in front of me.” 

The race will feature game-inspired graphics and cinematic drone footage, with live race data and insights displayed on screen throughout. 

In a unique twist, Verstappen will be able to communicate directly with his competitors during the race.
