F1 rookie Arvid Lindblad avoided answering whether his recent visit to Formula E has given him an advantage in energy management following a sensational qualifying performance in Melbourne.
The Racing Bulls driver has looked consistent and fast throughout the Australian Grand Prix weekend and almost out-qualified team-mate Liam Lawson.
Both Lindblad and Lawson made it to the final part of qualifying, with the Red Bull sister team appearing to be the best of the midfield.
The 18-year-old is yet to make a mistake in his very young F1 career and could not have imagined qualifying ninth on his debut.
"Yeah, it's been a really good weekend so far," Lindblad told select media, including RacingNews365.
"I was extremely excited coming into the weekend. I mean, this is something I've been working towards and dreaming of my whole life.
"To be having my debut is extremely cool, and to have it gone so well today is much better than my expectations. And I'm just very much looking forward to the race tomorrow."
Lindblad's Formula E trip
A factor that has been identified in the Briton's driving is how quickly he has adjusted to deploying and harvesting energy.
Following the first of two three-day Bahrain tests last month, Lindblad did attend Formula E's Jeddah E-Prix, with many wondering if the visit was to gain a better understanding of energy management.
However, Lindblad has insisted it was a trip made purely to relax and support his manager, reigning Formula E world champion Oliver Rowland.
When asked by RacingNews365 if his trip to watch Formula E in Jeddah has given him an advantage, Lindblad replied: "Ollie, who's world champion there, is like family to me. So I went to Formula E to give him some support.
"I had a couple days off, so I just went to switch off, have a bit of fun and support my coach."
