Ferrari's 2026 campaign has stumbled badly out of the blocks, with the Scuderia sitting 70 points adrift of Mercedes after just four races.
The Italian outfit occupies second in the constructors' standings with 110 points, but the reality is far bleaker than the position suggests. Mercedes has stormed clear with 180 points, whilst McLaren lurk dangerously close on 94, threatening to push Ferrari further down the order.
Charles Leclerc has delivered some respectable results, securing podiums in Australia and Japan, yet the Monegasque's campaign hit turbulence in Miami. A costly spin on the penultimate lap whilst running in podium contention was compounded by a 20-second penalty for track limits violations, dropping him to eighth.
Lewis Hamilton's Ferrari debut has been equally frustrating. The seven-time world champion managed third in Melbourne but has endured a difficult adaptation period. Miami proved particularly painful, with early contact from Franco Colapinto leaving the Briton nursing damage throughout the race en route to sixth.
The SF-26 appears fundamentally competitive in certain conditions, yet consistency remains elusive. Ferrari trail the leaders by 38.9 per cent in points accumulated, a troubling deficit this early in the season.
With Red Bull floundering on just 30 points, Fred Vasseur's squad cannot afford to surrender ground to Mercedes and McLaren and the championship window is closing rapidly.
But with a big development race expected, are Ferrari's F1 2026 title hopes doomed already?
