F1 salaries 2025

How much does Max Verstappen earn in Formula 1 and what is Lewis Hamilton's salary at Ferrari?

The quadruple world champion and the seven-time one earn tens of millions of dollars a year, and top the highest-paid drivers list of 2025.

Verstappen more than earned his salary in 2024 after clinching a fourth straight world title, even after his Red Bull team suffered an alarming drop in form through the season, to fend off Lando Norris's challenge.

The Dutchman once again sits atop the list of highest-paid drivers in 2025, but following his bombshell move to Ferrari, Hamilton finds himself close behind as he tries to land a record-breaking eighth crown.

RacingNews365 spoke to various sources within the F1 paddock to come up with an overview of the estimated salaries of all F1 drivers.

The figures represented below show the annual 'base' income drivers receive and does not include bonuses from their teams for winning races or achieving podium finishes.

The figures also do not include contracts with personal sponsors.

What does Max Verstappen earn?

Verstappen's salary as the four-time world champion is believed to be around the $65 million mark, an amount Red Bull would be only too happy to pay, especially after his stunning drive from 16th to 1st in Sao Paulo last season.

Verstappen has now become the face of Formula 1, along with Hamilton and has sponsors lining up through the door to work with him.

Verstappen is working closely with EA Sports, Heineken and Viaplay, among others, all sure to provide him with a few extra pennies.

In addition, he will also earn additional money at Red Bull in 2025 through the performance bonuses included in his contract. Hamilton, however, is breathing down his neck...

Does Verstappen earn more than Hamilton and Leclerc?

According to RacingNews365 sources, Hamilton is said to earn around $60 million mark in base salary.

This is amply supplemented by various bonuses and a number of deals off-track which push his total income to around the $100 million threshold.

However, in terms of basic salary, he is still second to Verstappen, but comfortably ahead of new team-mate Charles Leclerc.

He is on the same salary in 2025 as in 2024 at  $34 million, well ahead of the other world champion on the grid, Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso on $20 million.

The 43-year-old Alonso is still performing at the highest level and could easily continue through 2027, when he would be 46, with options in his contract to continue if he wishes, with new engine partner for '26, Honda signalling intention to work with the Spanish racer.

Lando Norris

Lando Norris also extended his contract and is set for a long-term deal with McLaren, and is understood to be receiving a base salary of $20 million, with the intention of both parties being to continue for the long-term.

However, contracts in F1 can be bought out for the right price, with RacingNews365 understanding there are clauses in Norris's contract to leave earlier if he so wishes.

His base salary will be supplemented by a healthy array of sponsor deals.
