Wolff urges Mercedes 'old days' caution despite F1 success

Mercedes will be looking for a third straight grand prix victory this weekend as F1 heads to Hungary.

Toto Wolff has urged Mercedes "not to get carried away" with its recent success as it eyes a third-straight F1 grand prix win.  Since Imola, Mercedes has shown an up-turn in form, with George Russell taking pole positions in Canada and Britain, as he also took victory in Austria, with Lewis Hamilton ending a long winless drought last time out at Silverstone.  For the first time since the end of the 2021 season, Mercedes is aiming for three grand prix wins in a row heading to the Hungarian GP - a venue where it has taken pole position every year since 2020. Fresh upgrades will be added to the W15 in Budapest, but Wolff has urged caution in Mercedes' approach.  "When you consider that five races ago, we weren't even contenders for the podium, it looked like being a third-year of non-performance," Wolff told media including RacingNews365.  "Then it clicked suddenly and everything that didn't make sense, made sense.  "The results of the development direction are now back like in the old days, we are finding performance, we are putting it on the car and it translates into lap-time.  "That hasn't been the case for the last two years." "There is more to come in terms of performance, we are bringing updates to Budapest and Spa, but on the other side, we must not get carried away."
