Villeneuve: Hamilton needs to focus on his racing

In an exclusive interview with RacingNews365.com, the 1997 F1 world champion explained that Lewis Hamilton has had an easy ride since 2014

Former F1 world champion Jacques Villeneuve believes that Lewis Hamilton needs to put all of his attention into racing if he wants to win this year's title. Hamilton has been a key activist in the fight against racism and has spoken out on other various topics including climate change and social media. Villeneuve thinks Hamilton needs to focus on his on-track battle with Red Bull and Max Verstappen. "Lewis is a great driver," Villeneuve told RacingNews365.com . He's got so much going on but has to focus on his racing. "I would say Red Bull have more hunger to go and win compared to Mercedes. Mercedes have had easy years. Now they have to react. "We'll see how they how they are in this situation there. They haven't been in the situation for a long time. "The same thing can be said about Lewis. The only time he had to react was to Nico [Rosberg] and it didn't go well." Villeneuve feels that " Verstappen does not have any weaknesse s" and that the Dutchman has had the upper hand over Hamilton this season. "At the moment, I would say Max has been the better driver because Lewis has too many years of winning easily," Villeneuve concluded.
