Verstappen reveals ominous Red Bull upgrade plan

Where can Red Bull find performance from the RB19?

Max Verstappen has delivered an ominous update on Red Bull's future chances as the runaway championship-leading outfit prepares to add upgrades at the Hungarian Grand Prix. The Dutchman's victory at Silverstone last weekend extended the Milton Keynes-based team's winning streak to 11, a run dating back to last year's Abu Dhabi season finale to tie McLaren's all-time F1 record. Verstappen has extended his championship lead out to 99 points over teammate Sergio Perez after the Mexican's recent struggles and the rest of the field's inability to compete with Red Bull. Mercedes, Aston Martin and Ferrari have yo-yoed between second and fourth in the pecking order, though were joined by Alpine for a short period of time. McLaren's latest upgrade package brought Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri into podium contention at the British Grand Prix, providing Red Bull with further breathing space. But the reigning Constructors' champion will add new parts to the RB19 at the Hungaroring next weekend in an attempt to consolidate its advantage.

Not kidding

Verstappen had conceded to being confused by the constantly changing pecking order behind Red Bull but told media, including RacingNews365.com : "The stable factor so far is that every single weekend, it seems like we are on top, which of course is the most important from our side." Revealing a raft of upgrades to be added to the Red Bull, the two-time World Champion added: "Hungary completely different track, we will put some upgrades on the car there and hopefully they will work well. On what the upgrades would target, Verstappen ominously added: "Drag, low speed, medium speed, high speed, DRS effect, tyre wear… all of these areas. "That's what we're working on. I'm not kidding."
