Verstappen looking to reverse bad luck in Baku

Max Verstappen has never managed to win in Azerbaijan, but can the Dutchman reverse his fortunes here as he did in Monaco last weekend?

Max Verstappen has said he hopes that breaking his streak of bad luck at Monaco last weekend will carry over to Baku for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix as the Dutchman looks to extend his lead at the top of the Drivers' Championship. Verstappen overtook Sir Lewis Hamilton at the top of the table after bringing home his first ever win in Monaco, and ahead of this weekend's race he said he would be looking to repeat the feat in Baku. "(The Monaco win) is great, of course, but it is a long season. It was a great weekend for the whole team. The first races of 2021 went well, but there are still many races that we also want to win," he said in an interview with Servus TV. "The win in Monaco was of course great and to be first now is also great, but next weekend Baku is on the agenda and we have to win there too. "The whole weekend in Monaco went really well. In previous years it did not go so well in Monaco, with own mistakes and little luck. We have won Monaco and are leading the drivers' championship as well as for the constructors, that's very important. "So far we haven't had much luck in Baku, but the same has been true in Monaco. So maybe this year will be a good race. We will see how we perform there."
