Two men have reportedly been arrested after allegedly blackmailing the family of seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher.
Bild reports that the men from Wuppertal were seeking to make millions through the scheme.
Wolf-Tilman Baumert, spokesman for the public prosecutor's office, told Bild: “We are investigating a case of blackmail to the detriment of a celebrity and have executed arrest warrants in this case.
“We cannot provide any further information at this time."
It is not the first time that the family have been victims of extortion - in 2017, a then 25-year-old man received a suspended prison sentence for attempting to blackmail Schumacher's wife Corinna and threatening to kill the couple's children.
Schumacher has not been in the public eye since he suffered a skiing accident in December, 2013.
