Toto Wolff has vowed that Mercedes has been innovative with the design of its W17, but there is more to come in the months ahead as the team adapts the car to the new regulations.
Mercedes has unveiled its latest machinery, complete with a livery it has described as "striking", and which "marks a bold expression of identity and evolution".
Via a statement, the team added: "A dynamic Petronas green flow line anchors the design, sweeping low across the car to emphasise speed and precision while harmonising the transition from iconic Mercedes silver to the team's deep black.
"The top of the sidepods features the AMG-specific inspired rhombus signature, complementing the iconic Mercedes three-pointed star pattern on the engine cover."
The expectation is, as was the case in 2014 when a new power unit was introduced, that Mercedes will come flying out of the traps following the changes to the system for this season.
In particular, the MGU-H has been removed, whilst power from the MGU-K has been increased from 120kW to 350kW to aid overtaking and straight-line performance. The cars will also run on 100% sustainable fuels.
In addition, there is all-new bodywork for this season, including active aero, again to help overtaking as the DRS has been removed.
Assessing the car and campaign to come, Wolff said: "Formula 1 will undergo significant change in 2026, and we are prepared for that transition.
"The new regulations demand innovation and absolute focus across every area of performance.
"Our work on the new car, and the long-term development of the power unit and advanced sustainable fuels with Petronas, reflects that approach.
"Releasing the first images of the W17 is simply the next step in that process. It represents the collective, sustained effort of our teams in Brixworth and Brackley."
Crucially, Wolff stated: "We will continue to push hard in the months ahead."
