RacingNews365 readers have voted nine-time World Rally champion Sebastien Loeb as the greatest driver never to have raced in F1.

Frenchman Loeb won the WRC title every year between 2004 and 2012 for Citreon in an era of dominance, and continued to win rallies after moving part-time in 2013, with his most recent win being the 2022 Monte Carlo rally.

Loeb was planning on making his F1 debut back in 2009 for Toro Rosso, but despite being a six-time WRC champion at the time, was denied a super licence by the FIA after not doing an adequate amount of circuit racing.

He did not receive a majority of votes in the poll, in which he narrowly pipped six-time IndyCar champion Scott Dixon to top spot.

Between them Loeb and 2008 Indy 500 winner Dixon earned over 50% of the votes cast, with third-place going to nine-time Le Mans winner Tom Kristensen.

When invited to offer their opinions, some 8.18% of voters opted for 'Someone else' with one user putting forward Mike Thackwell - a New Zealander with a promising junior career that never translated into F1 success.
