Max Verstappen dominated qualifying and will line up P1 for Sunday's race after taking his second pole position of the 2022 F1 season.

Lining up alongside him on the front row is Fernando Alonso, who hustled his Alpine around the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in wet conditions to end Saturday's qualifying session in a surprising but well-deserved second place.

Carlos Sainz will line up third for Ferrari, with Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton achieving his highest starting spot of the season so far in fourth place.

Verstappen's teammate Sergio Perez will start only 13th after sliding into the barriers midway through qualifying, while Ferrari's Charles Leclerc will take 19th after exceeding his permitted power unit component usage.

The starting grid below is provisional until confirmed by F1's governing body, the FIA.
