Should Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll be allowed to compete in the Japanese GP?

It has been a hideous start to the season for Aston Martin, with Fernando Alonso's issues in China very serious.

The start to Aston Martin's power unit partnership with Honda could not have been any worse.

So far, over the two grands prix in Australia and China, neither Fernando Alonso nor Lance Stroll have seen the chequered flag.

At the Shanghai International Circuit, in particular, the issues surrounding the vibrating battery, which were reverberating through the entire car, were laid bare when Alonso was forced to retire after 32 laps due to the discomfort he was experiencing in his hands.

Team principal Adrian Newey had warned in the build-up to the Australian Grand Prix that if the vibrations continued, then his drivers would experience severe nerve damage.

Honda had insisted it was applying countermeasures to stop the vibrations and was happy Alonso and Stroll finished the sprint in China, only for the setback of what occurred in the grand prix, with the Canadian retiring after nine laps with a suspected battery-related issue.

Although there is a window of opportunity for its home race in Japan on March 27-29 for Honda to delve deeper into the problem and potentially find a fix, the question is, should Aston Martin be allowed to compete if issues continue to materialise at Suzuka?

That is the question we are asking in the latest RacingNews365 poll, and please do leave a comment as the best will get a mention in our results article.
