Several penalties change the result of the Miami GP

A handful of drivers have been hit with penalties following the inaugural Miami Grand Prix, changing the overall race classification.

Alpine's Fernando Alonso is one of the drivers to lose out, having been hit with a five-second time penalty, and a penalty point on his Super Licence, after the stewards deemed that he left the track at Turn 14 and gained an advantage.

Alonso finished the race in ninth position, after the application of an original five-second penalty for a clash with AlphaTauri rival Pierre Gasly, which added two points to his Licence.

His penalty drops him back to 11th, in the process moving Williams driver Alex Albon up to ninth, with Aston Martin's Lance Stroll the other beneficiary to take home the final point.

Further penalties on a busy day for the stewards

Daniel Ricciardo was in line to benefit from Alonso's punishment, having finished 11th, but he too picked up a five-second time penalty, and a penalty point on his Licence.

The stewards determined that the McLaren driver was also guilty of leaving the track and gaining an advantage, this time at Turn 12 during his battle with Haas' Kevin Magnussen.

Magnussen himself was given a five-second penalty, and two penalty points, for a collision with Stroll in the closing stages of the race, though his result was not impacted as he retired from proceedings.

Mick Schumacher (Haas) and Sebastian Vettel (Aston Martin) were also summoned to the stewards for a clash at Turn 1 late on, but no penalties were handed out after the stewards deemed that "neither was wholly or predominantly to blame".
