A crash for Sergio Perez caused the first red flag of the Singapore Grand Prix weekend, marking a setback for the Mexican and the Cadillac team.
Perez locked up into Turn 4 shortly after the start of the session, causing damage to his front wing.
As Perez peeled back to the pit lane under his own power, the front wing got lodged under his car before being ripped from the structure altogether.
It then disintegrated into many pieces, prompting race control to deploy a red flag and stop the session to clean up the track.
Perez was subsequently noted for driving the car in an unsafe condition, before no further action was taken.
The Mexican enters the race weekend hoping for a notable result, stating that it was likely Cadillac's last chance this year to score points.
The incident caused scrutiny elsewhere on the grid as Lewis Hamilton called out Max Verstappen for allegedly overtaking him under yellow flags as they drove past the scene of Perez's stricken front wing.
