Sauber have announced that Audi has acquired a minority stake in the company, ahead of their planned takeover in 2026.
In a statement, the team confirmed the German company's involvement, with Sauber set to be a "strategic partner" in the future.
"The Sauber Group is pleased to announce that, as per the plans outlined in October last year, Audi acquired a minority stake in the Sauber Group in January 2023," the statement reads.
"This is an important milestone on the way to Audi’s entry in Formula 1, scheduled for 2026, for which the Sauber Group will be the German brand’s strategic partner."
The news follows the appointment of Andreas Seidl as Sauber CEO, who moved from his position as Team Principal at McLaren.
Alfa Romeo will instead have a Team Representative in this interim period, before they end their partnership once the 2023 season has been completed.
