Max Verstappen will start the Monaco Grand Prix from pole position after a thrilling qualifying session.
Several drivers made serious claims to pole, and for some time Fernando Alonso looked to be on course to seal P1. However, by putting in an impressive final sector on his last lap, Verstappen managed to take over first place, despite hitting a barrier along the way.
There was more disappointment for Charles Leclerc on home soil. After being only one tenth short of pole, he was then handed a three-place grid penalty after qualifying for impeding Lando Norris during his flying lap.
Sergio Perez had a particularly difficult afternoon after crashing during Q1. The Mexican will start 20th and last.
The starting grid below is provisional until confirmed by F1's governing body, the FIA.
