Red Bull has moved to strengthen its technical and operational structure by bringing in long-serving Ferrari figure Gino Rosato as a consultant, RacingNews365 understands.

Rosato, who spent the best part of three decades at Maranello from the mid-1990s through to 2023, will join with immediate effect and is set to attend a number of grands prix in his new role — believed to be around eight to 10 — and is present at this weekend's Canadian Grand Prix.

His arrival carries additional weight given his personal ties to the Red Bull camp; Rosato is understood to have a strong relationship with Max Verstappen and his father Jos, and his connections within the paddock run deep.

During his time at Ferrari, he worked closely alongside Michael Schumacher, and his bond with Kimi Räikkönen is notably close, with Rosato serving as godfather to Räikkönen's son Robin.

The signing comes after a turbulent period for Red Bull, which has seen a significant number of key figures depart the organisation.

Adrian Newey left the team in 2024, as did sporting director Jonathan Wheatley. Christian Horner's departure followed last year, while Helmut Marko also exited the setup.

Chief race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase is set to leave by 2028 at the latest.

Red Bull has been working to rebuild its infrastructure around team principal Laurent Mekies.

Recently, the team confirmed that Ben Waterhouse had taken on a new position as chief performance and design engineer, with Andrea Landi joining as head of performance.

Although Rosato is joining on a freelance basis and is not expected to be in team gear, he represents another step in that rebuilding process.
