Red Bull has reflected on the seismic Max Verstappen crash with Lewis Hamilton during the 2021 British Grand Prix, which left the team facing a startling reality.
The opening lap at Silverstone saw Verstappen's race come to an end when the pair collided at Copse corner, sending the Dutchman into the barrier at high speed.
It resulted in a trip to a local hospital for the four-time champion, who revealed earlier this year he still is feeling the effects of the crash.
Ed Hemsworth, who at the time worked as a race parts and lifting controller, stated the incident was "the worst crash anyone here had ever seen".
“When you’re sweeping up parts of the car that our driver sat in, there’s the realisation that we’re not just messing around with toys here," he added, speaking to motorsport.com.
“This isn't a game where you can press the reset button, this is people's lives - and it was a massive eye-opener.”
Hamilton went on to win the race, his seventh on home soil. Verstappen took issue with the celebrations that were conducted as he was assessed at hospital.
"Watching the celebrations while still in hospital is disrespectful and unsportsmanlike behaviour but we move on,” he said at the time on social media.

As the Max accolytes keep saying, it was 2021, get over it! The reality is that Maz wasn't hospitalised, he was checked over at hospital. If he had been hospitalised, he would have been admitted as a bed patient for a period, which he wasn't. It has also been proven over time that the crash took place on a section where it is entirely possible to overtake - even in the same race! - and this article is just clickbait.

Was,nt Hamiltons first offence and it wont be his last, It was the celebration that let him down !! Max at that stage was at the hospital, His condition was unknown to Merc, They have admitted that. Oh and by the way, its Hamiltons side that keep bringing up 2021 !! To most others its history

Actually, as has been widely reported, Mercedes were actually told that Max was ok... It's Max's accolytes that keep telling Mercedes fans to forget about 2021, yet here RedBull are digging it up again...

@srperry If U follow this Publication ? U would have seen a Statement from Merc that they took the word of a RB pit crew as to Maxs condition, and they have admitted they should have gone further. Either way Hamiltons celebrations were disgraceful after an accident of that magnitude.
