Red Bull report unexplained problem with Verstappen's car

Red Bull have reported an unexplained issue with Max Verstappen's car, which they're hoping to resolve in time for the second F1 practice session.

Helmut Marko believes that Max Verstappen was suffering from an unexpected handling change in the RB19 during the opening Formula 1 practice session of the season. Sergio Perez had set the pace in FP1 for the Bahrain Grand Prix, ahead of Fernando Alonso and teammate Max Verstappen. With both drivers setting times on the soft tyres, Perez and Verstappen were separated by six tenths of a second. Red Bull's Motorsport Advisor Helmut Marko gave his reaction to the deficit, which he has put down to an unknown handling or setup issue that has occurred on only one Red Bull car, which he hoped would be fixed by the next practice session. "With Max, we have a change in driving behaviour that we can't really explain at the moment," Marko told Sky Germany . "The temperatures are a bit different. But we have to find out what's going on there and why the car doesn't react at all, in contrast to what happened during the test." Marko backed the team to be able to solve the issue, but was curious about why Perez's car did not suffer the same fate. "We can definitely fix that by the next practice session," Marko added. "It only occurred on one of the two cars, which should theoretically be set up the same..."
