Red Bull disaster as Yuki Tsunoda involved in multi-car first lap crash

It was a chaotic opening lap to the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix - held at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit.

Red Bull suffered a disastrous start to the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, as Yuki Tsunoda and Alpine's Pierre Gasly crashed at Turn 4 on the opening lap.

The accident was caused by Tsunoda hitting the left-rear of Gasly's car, leaving the Frenchman stricken after making contact with the barrier.

A safety car was triggered, although Tsunoda initially managed to continue after spinning back around after the rear of his RB21 hit the wall.

However, the Japanese driver was forced to retire once his car was inspected by Red Bull. Tsunoda returned to the pits, where it was decided by the Austrian outfit that his car was unable to continue.

It was controversy at the front of the pack, as Max Verstappen cut across the second corner to remain in the lead ahead of Oscar Piastri.
