Red Bull CEO Oliver Mintzlaff has denied that Max Verstappen is the “boss” of the team after a series of changes at the energy drink squad.

The team has undergone a series of personnel changes over the last 12 months, which include the exits of Christian Horner, Adrian Newey and Helmut Marko.

Verstappen was also linked with a move away from the squad amid performance concerns surrounding the team, before he went on a late-season surge that narrowly saw him miss out on a title.

However, the four-time champion reasserted his commitment to the team for 2026 earlier this year.

During the past season, it was suggested by 2016 champion Nico Rosberg that the Verstappens have significant influence over the decisions being made inside the team.

When asked by De Telegraaf for a response to the suggestion that Verstappen is the boss at the team, Mintzlaaf replied: "That's nonsense.

“I can tell you that all agreements are clear, and he's never made a single request of me. The same goes for his manager and father.

“Max is clear about what he wants, and that's okay, because he's the best driver in the world.”

Mintzlaaf added that there is only one overuling boss within Red Bull, which is the “famous can we sell”.

As speculation continues to mount over Verstappen's future in F1 beyond the 2026 season, Mintzlaaf is hopeful that Verstappen will be a long-time associate with the team - even if it goes beyond an F1 driver role.

“Max is a great guy, not a diva,” he said.

“Again, I'm sure he'll stay with us forever. If he ever retires as a driver - I hope not too soon - I hope he stays with us in another role.

“His knowledge and feel for a car are so special, and he can consult with his engineers at a very high level. That makes him unique."
