Pierre Gasly suffered a heavy smash to bring out the red flags for a second time during the second practice session for the Belgian Grand Prix.
Max Verstappen caused an early stoppage when running wide through Stavelot, spraying gravel across the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, leading to a short stoppage whilst marshals swept the track clean.
With 14 minutes remaining, Alpine driver Gasly was on a flying lap when he emerged out of the Fagnes chicane, only to lose the rear of the car, leading to it clipping the end of a barrier.
Gasly spun once before the front of the car suffered a secondary collision with a barrier, sparking a second 360-degree spin.
The end result was a destroyed rear, and although Gasly attempted to initially continue, it was clear he had to stop on track.
The incident led to a 12-minute delay, and just two minutes of running remaining. Although several cars returned to the track, it was for nothing more than conducting practice starts.
