Sergio Perez has suffered his latest Red Bull setback after being eliminated from qualifying at the end of Q1 in Las Vegas. It marks the fourth time in five events that Perez has failed to start inside the top 10. The Mexican rose to 12th place after his final attempt at the end of Q1 - however as his rivals improved, Perez dropped down the order. Perez is now set to start Sunday's race from 16th on the grid, having complained of a lack of grip after learning of his early exit. The result will come as a blow to Red Bull and its chances in the constructors' championship, having entered the weekend third in the standings behind McLaren and Ferrari. Perez's Red Bull future is currently up in the air amid the series of lacklustre performances this year. His Q1 exit is his sixth of the campaign and the 10th time this season he has failed to reach the final segment of qualifying.
